About

George Bate is a musical composer, songwriter, producer, mix engineer and multi-musicianist based in South-West London England. Specialising in rock and guitar-based genres, George learned to play guitar aged 7, and from then on delved deep into many different musical areas. As an artist in multiple projects, he started crossing over his skills to theatrical soundtrack and scoring compositions, including orchestral and ambient pieces in 2020.

As a versatile composer demonstrated in his portfolio, George is able to artistically analyse a scene or piece of visual media and feel what should accompany musically in order to compliment the scene, rather than distract.

Music Industry Experience

Since the age of 11, George has been involved with multiple bands. In his early years, George was a rhythm guitarist in amateur school bands, performing covers and mastering the guitar. In 2013, George would experiment with EDM music production, going on to release 2x EPs under the aliases of ‘Spark’ and ‘Klynch’, and performing in such venues as Ministry of Sound, Alexandra Palace, Nottingham’s Rock City and may more. Then in 2015, after joining acoustic-boyband ‘Fourth Intake’, the group was scouted to appear on the UK’s X-Factor 2016, progressing to the final stages of bootcamp. Following the departure of ‘Fourth Intake’, George would go on to front various rock band projects including the now-disbanded ‘The Broad’ (BBC Introducing Essex featured artist, and headline act), and current projects Vonroe and Dead Zebras. For these two current projects, since 2021 George has written, recorded and produced more than 35 songs, as well as beginning the dive into the world of compositions intended for film and TV. More recently, George has also worked with other artists in co-writing roles, providing catchy hook melodies to take the artists’ songs to the next level.

Composition Experience

Fresh to the film industry in 2021 and mentored by composer Max Sweiry, George was hired for his first credited composition role for feature-length movie ‘Assailant’, (directed by Tom Paton, MSR Media, starring Casper Van Dien, Poppy Delevingne and Chad Michael Collins), for 2x soundtrack pieces, including the end-credits sequence. Since, George has continued to work on various projects of different and exciting stature, such as Chelsea FC’s 2023-2024 away kit launch, alongside Berry Cinema, another movie for MSR Media titled ‘Us Or Them’, again for the end-credits sequence, as well as performing a cover of The Cramps’ ‘Goo Goo Muck’ for the original series soundtrack of Netflix’s ‘Wednesday’, alongside lead producer Shatterjack.
